What kind of traditions does your congregation have at Pentecost? One of my favorite traditions was when I belonged to an Illinois UCC congregation: our alter guild decorated with red flowers(geraniums) and planted them soon after. In southeast AK, however, it has been difficult if not impossible to get a good supply of flowering geraniums or similar at this time of the year.

RED!!!

We have been known to wear red hats on Pentecost Sunday.  and of course we are wearing Red.  Actually I just realized I should get a new red hat for Pentecost.  Simple easy but can be fun.

Thought this might be a good way to infuse new traditions to refresh a congregation and perhaps some of the ideas or traditions will cross over to other times of the year. Our minister, SueEllen Bahleda, Resurrection, Juneau gave a medallion with the holy spirit to each person of the congregation. I cherish this tiny token from her..it a baptismal/Pentecost token of remembrance. more ideas out there? Please post!!!
