Sept. 25 of 2010 about 50 leaders from 10 North, Northeast and Southeast Portland congregations gathered in Bethany Lutheran's social hall to begin a process of transformation.  Shrinking membership, declining financial capacity with extended operational costs (including pastors and large buildings) brought us to the table to talk about what was happening and what to do about it.   Over several months, tough questions emerged: "Survival isn't mission"  "Without mission, the church is not the church" "What is our mission?"  "What are we wiling to let go of in order to move forward?"  "What gifts and hungers are our congregations experiencing?"
