inheriting the kingdom of God

I applaud Joe Biden and Barack Obama for their recent statements but in so doing have reinforced my position as the Family Lepper--shunned by that part of the family who leans heavily on literal translations of the Bible. So, my dilemma is this: how do I, at least in my own mind, reconcile the quotations below. The first four are now and have always been my mainstays--especially meaningful to me because of many wasted years of believing I, the "drunkard," was the chaff and not the wheat. Help me, please?
